The hot summer we had this year reminded me of how much I hated my windows. They were the old aluminum frame type and were thin and didn't insulate very well at all. J & R had helped us replace some old leaking French Doors with a single big picture window the year before, and standing in front of that one window was a world of difference in comparison to the rest of the house. The other windows were so bad that you couldn't stand very long on the floor where the sun was shining for long without fear of burning your feet. The only one that didn't mind was the cat, who loves lying in the hot sun spots.

So I contacted J & R Maintenance to see what it would cost to have all the other windows in my house replaced with new "Low E" efficient windows. I was surprised that the cost wasn't going to be nearly what I thought, and they even gave me information about a tax credit for doing energy efficient home improvements which included the windows. We put in the order and 2 weeks later the windows showed up.

The J & R crew did a very fast and efficient job at taking out the old windows and putting in the new ones. The old windows were mounted inside the T-111 siding, so they had to cut them out and put up trim pieces. This actually worked out great and gave the house some much needed definition on the back side. Additionally it allowed the installers to make a nice secure and sealed installation. They were so efficient that they allocated 3 days to install 8 windows and got it done in just two.

We have now had the new windows for about a month and they are fabulous! My wife loves how they are easier to open and close. One of the biggest things I noticed is that the house was suddenly much quieter. For while I actually forgot that we have a busy street nearby. Alas there is one problem though. The cat no longer has a warm spot in front of the windows. She will lay where the sun is shining for about 5 minutes then get up and move. Recently we had some colder days too, and I immediately noticed that the furnace turned on less often to maintain the house at 68 degrees.

Again, these energy efficient windows are great, and the installation from J & R Maintenance was fast, professional, and we are very pleased! I would highly recommend their services to anyone looking to have similar work done!
